Montreal, May 11, 2017 – Desjardins – Innovatech, through the CTS and its program, recently invested $ 250,000 in KINESIQ, which offers innovative and unique technology to reproduce a person’s foot movements, linked to a video of the activity in question and which can be personalized to the patient in order to work in parallel on the cognitive aspect of his treatment.

KINESIQ offers a totally innovative medical device to improve the balance, reflexes and lower limb capacity while working on reducing the effects of degenerative diseases. The product takes the form of a simulator of activities in the standing position such as walking, public transport, boat and much more, all designed specifically for the frail people. Its innovative technology of intelligent motion systems allows the accurate reproduction of the foot movements of a person on several axes as well as a screen broadcasting the activity so that the patient can be immersed in the action as if was there. The different movements allow physical and mental rehabilitation that can be adapted to the patient. In addition, when connected, the therapist is able to monitor the patient’s progress from a distance and also to establish a diagnostic profile of his physical condition.

KINESIQ’s KINE-SIM is used to accelerate rehabilitation in post-traumatic lower limb physiotherapy and in fall prevention programs and to reduce the effects of certain degenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s, dementia, Parkinson’s disease, as well as stroke. The KINE-SIM retains the approach through balance management. It is the only passive exercise device that includes two trays (one for each foot) that move independently, in synchronization with audiovisual or multimedia content.

“Thanks to this partnership with the CTS, we can now count on significant support in the field of medical devices,” said Lukas Dufault, president and founder of KINESIQ. “Their team’s cutting-edge expertise and funding will enable us to meet the growing demand for our equipment both locally and internationally. ”

Yvan Beaudoin, CEO of the CTS is “convinced of the potential of this startup which offers a different technological solution with undeniable added value that meets the needs of the aging world population, we are therefore both happy and proud to be able to contribute to his success as an accompanying and investor. ”

KINESIQ designs, assembles and markets medical equipment integrating technologies from the simulation world for the physical and neurological rehabilitation market and to help maintain functional autonomy. The products allow for the rehabilitation of the lower limbs following an injury as well as improve balance and reflexes. They are also designed to be integrated into fall prevention programs. KINESIQ’s primary objective is to help improve the health and quality of life of individuals either in the early stages of fragility, near end-of-life or suffering from degenerative diseases.
